Watergate Bay

Watergate Bay beach is a large golden sand beach, popular with families, that stretches for about two miles at low tide. It is large, open bay that picks up swell from the Atlantic creating enormous waves popular with surfers. Because of the Atlantic swell and winds, this is also a popular kitesurfing spot.

Watergate Bay is a European Designated beach and has achieved the highest standard for UK bathing water. A fantastic beach for all activity lovers of all ages and abilities. Watergate Bay hosts demonstrations, events, championships and festivals in a variety of sand, sea and air sports as well as the annual Polo on the Beach. For children there are plenty of rock pools to play in as well as designated safe swimming areas in the sea.

Jamie Oliverís Fifteen Cornwall restaurant and social enterprise, directly overlooks the bay. During the winter months Fifteen hold farmers  markets and food fairs in the car park by the beach.

Watergate Bay has lifeguards during the summer months that patrol each and everyday, from morning till dusk, so you can feel very safe if you fancy a swim. Please be sure to observe the flags, and the beach safety code.
