Rock Beach

Rock Beach boasts a long sandy beach, about a mile long, facing Padstow, on the Camel estuary, a beach that, at low tide, continues round Brea Hill to Daymer Bay.

The long sandy beach is not the only reason why tourists are attracted to Rock, a vast range of water based leisure pursuits are catered for here. Owing to its sheltered waters Rock is a haven for angling, fishing trips, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing and water skiing, are all available here, although the town is best known for its sailing. The sailing club is located on the waterfront and the waters in front are full of boats, dinghies to yachts. Another pull towards this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are the views of the estuary, wildlife in abundance, and is known as a bird watchers paradise.

According to folklore Rock obtained its name from the supply of rocks, mined from the quarry, and used as ballast for the cargo ships that had offloaded at the opposite Padstow Harbour.

Rock Beach, unfortunately does not have lifeguard cover during the year, so you have to take extra precaution if swimming here. Please be sure to observe the beach safety code.
