Readymoney Cove

Readymoney Cove is a south-east facing sandy beach to the south of the harbour town of Fowey. The cove is sheltered by cliffs close to the mouth of the River Fowey Estuary, on one side is the medieval town of Fowey and, on the other, by St Catherine's Castle. Above the cove is the former coach house which was the home of author, Daphne du Maurier, for a few years during the Second World War.

On days of high spring tides Readymoney Cove can be covered, but through out the rest of the year you will always find the sandy beach. The beach is cleaned daily during high season, and a bathing platform is moored in the bay. Although this beach is not as popular as others in the area, Readymoney Cove has its own unique assets, which makes it stand out. The tidal rock pools here are excellent for crab fishing and provide a shaded retreat from high temperatures.

Readymoney Cove, unfortunately does not have lifeguard cover during the year, so you have to take extra precaution if swimming here. Please be sure to observe the beach safety code.
