Newquay Harbour Beach

The Harbour Beach is only accessible at low tide,  an unlikely spot to have a beach but this sheltered cove provides an ideal place for soaking up the sun or enjoying the sheltered waters. Popular with families due to the safe bathing with no surf, an ideal environment for parents with young children. This is the smallest of the Newquay town beaches.

This beach is part of a working harbour where you can watch the fishermen bring back the catch. The brightly coloured fishing boats of Newquay’s fleet, lands fresh crab and lobster destined for the dinner plates of nearby hotels and restaurants. Fishing trips and excursions can be booked and boarded in the harbour. You might also be lucky to see seals who regularly visit here and are a common sight frolicking in the water.

Look up from the Harbour and you’ll see the Huers Hut – a white stone building on top of Towan Head. When the shoals of Pilchards where spotted off the cliffs the Huer would call the fishermen to sea and a lucrative catch.

Newquay Harbour unfortunately does not have lifeguard cover during the year, so you have to take extra precaution if swimming here. Please be sure to observe the beach safety code.
