Gwithian Beach

Gwithian Beach is a very popular family beach. It has a huge expanse of sand which at low tide extends to Godrevy beach and in the other direction all the way to Hayle Towans Beach.

Access to the beach is along a path through the sand dunes that border the beach and provide excellent opportunities for walking and exploring. Large areas of rock pools and some caves can be found too.

The beach is a favourite destination for surfers as the constant swell coming in from the ocean provides good all year round conditions. Quality waves suitable for all surfing abilities. The waves  conveniently gets gradually bigger the further towards Godrevy beach you go. Gwithian Towans is always a colourful scene of windsurfers out on the water, kitesurfing along the beach, and the World Land Speedsailing Championships are often held here.

Gwithian beach has lifeguards during the summer months that patrol each and everyday, from morning till dusk, so you can feel very safe if you fancy a swim. Please be sure to observe the flags, and the beach safety code.
